Roger Hutchison Obituary

Mr. Roger Hutchison, age 79, of Ailey, died Friday, February 23, 2024, at his home, following an extended illness.  He was a native of the Bolingbroke Community in Monroe County, Georgia, and later moved to Macon where he graduated from Lanier High School in 1963.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, and he moved to Vidalia in 1971.  He was a millwright from 1971 until 1988 when he went to work with Georgia Power at Edwin I. Hatch Plant, retiring in 2007.  He helped build Plant Hatch from the ground up.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.  He was a member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330 and had been a Mason for more than fifty years.  He enjoyed fishing and was gifted in carvings.  He is preceded in death by his parents, J.J. Hutchison and Emma Lee Skinner Hutchison; a brother, Roy Hutchison, and an infant brother, Robert Hutchison.

His family includes his wife of fifty-seven years, Kaye Hutchison of Ailey; two sons, Mark Hutchison and wife Connie of Baxley, and Kevin Hutchison and wife Barbara of Ailey;  three grandchildren, Katie Hutchison of Baxley, and Michaela Hutchison and Kevin Hutchison II of Ailey; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Monday, February 26th, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye and Reverend Tracy Todd officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:30 until just prior to the service.
