Thomas Burnett

Thomas Newton Burnett Jr.

July 28, 1944 - October 18, 2017

Thomas N. Bunett, Jr., died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in Fitzgerald, GA. Visitation will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at Kimbrell-Stern from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  Tommy Burnett was a veteran of the US Army. He was well known in Albany as the manager of various restaurants and nightclubs. Tommy's passion was trying to stay above the curve and one step ahead of his competitors. He would travel all over the country and visit different night clubs in an effort to bring the latest trends to Albany. Tommy won numerous awards during his career, such as one for the P2, which was recognized as the best Ramada Inn Affiliated nightclub in America. Most employees that worked for Tommy would attest to him and his hard outer shell, but over time, they came to appreciate his compassionate heart.
Tommy loved helping others, and one of his proudest accomplishments was the yearly Christmas dance party held at the P-2 for Easter Seals. Tommy loved spending time with his sons and three grandchildren. His friends described him as a loyal and compassionate man. Tommy was an early riser-- he loved his coffee, and he loved his Atlanta Journal Constitution paper. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Challenger League of Lee County, 499 North Hampton Rd, Leesburg, GA 31763 or Easter Seals, 1906 Palmyra Rd, Albany, GA 31701.

Survivors include 2 sons, Tommy Burnett III of Albany and Bryan Burnett and his wife, Becca of Lee County, 3 grandchildren, Bryce Burnett, Blake Burnett and Charlie Burnett and a special friend, Betty Hurt.
