Travis Lee Harris, 71, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Memorial services will be at 3:00PM on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in the Newton Chapel at Mercer University with the reception to immediately follow in the chapel. The Reverend Tommy Lane to officiate.

Mr. Harris was the son of the late Lee Hinton Harris Jr and Monteen Carson Harris. He attended Lanier High School and is a graduate of Mercer University, Class of 1974. He served as an air defense missile crewman in the United States Army while stationed in Germany. Mr. Harris was a Financial Planner with AXA Equitable Financial Companies from 1979 until his death. His previous occupations included Bibb County Deputy Sheriff, Director of Central Georgia Narcotics Drug Enforcement Unit, Director of Georgia Police Academy, and Owner/Guide to Alpine Adventure Trails Tours. He received multiple Financial Service Industry awards including The National Leaders Corp Award for 36 years, Order of Excalibur, Lifetime Achievement Award, Hall of Fame, President’s Cabinet, and Golden Life Award. He was the Chairman of the National Agents Forum for AXA Equitable Financial Companies.

Mr. Harris was a member of McIntosh Presbyterian Church, as well as Fraternal Order of Police, a Lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, and National Association of Life Underwriters. He enjoyed traveling, photography and hiking in Switzerland.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Faye Reynolds Harris; children, Thad Lee Harris and wife, Rebecca Ann Harris of Macon, Shannon Lee Harris and wife, Lisa Shae Harris of Macon, and Heather Harris Edge and husband, Jack Brandon Edge of Covington, Georgia; grandchildren, Hayden Harris Edge, Holden Hinton Edge, Hannah Elise Edge, and Noah Carter Harris; and brother, Randall Lee Harris and Janie Jones of St. Augustine, Florida, Brother in law, Mae Saunders Reynolds, niece, Michele Diane Wainwright and family of Lizella Georgia.
