Bobby Woodall

William Robert "Bob" Woodall, Jr, 73, of Avondale Estates, Georgia died on June 2, 2018 after a valiant fight with leukemia. A longtime member of Decatur First UMC, Dr. Woodall earned his PhD from the University of Georgia and then worked 28 years for Georgia Power Company and Southern Company, retiring in 2000 as Vice President of Environmental Policy. After retirement, he and his wife, Susan, spent most of their time on their historic antebellum plantation in Hancock County and raised grass-fed beef, goats, and chickens while pursuing restoration activities.

Bob is survived by Susan, his wife of 52 years; a daughter, Kim Mather of Athens, Ohio and a son, Rob Woodall of Norcross, Georgia and Washington, DC; granddaughters Emily and Sophie Mather; sister, Lundi (Carl) Johnson of Macon, Georgia; brother, Lee (Leesa) Woodall of Barnesville, Georgia; and 12 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 am at Decatur First United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall.

Bobby and I were in elementary school together. I'm sorry for your loss. I saw him speak at the high school reunion this year.  He did well. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
