Norman "Rocky" William Short, age 76, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Family will receive friends at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, from 5 until 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening, March 15, 2022. His life will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 2 o'clock in Mikado Baptist Church led by Rev. Ed Chambless. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Those who wish are encouraged to make memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice, 200 Northside Crossing, Macon, GA 31210.

Rocky was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Ralph Hilton and Clara Pilgrim Short, and worked as a Band Director for over 20 years, in many counties across Georgia, including Taylor County High School and Mt. Vernon. Mr. Short proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He earned his musical education degrees from Georgia College, in Milledgeville, Georgia. He organized and founded the Middle Georgia Concert Band and was the choir director of several churches over the years. Rocky was never afraid of putting in the work and dedication to his musical groups. He was a dedicated member Mikado Baptist Church. Rocky wrote several scores of his own and for many Baptist conventions, and always started a performance with playing The Star Spangled Banner.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Gloria Short; daughter, Joanna Elizabeth Greene (Mark Timothy); son, Michael Aaron Short; daughter, Natalie Christina Short; grandchildren, Madeline Greene, Andrew Short, Eli Greene, and Isabella Short; brother, Warren Short; sisters, Barbara Teasley, and Lisa Calvert; several nieces, nephews, and a tremendous host of friends. Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Nestor Short.
