Dr. Thomas “Tom” Hall Lowe,75, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter and other loved ones Saturday, March 6, 2021.

A native of Macon, GA, Tom was the middle child between his older brother Dr. James Tarver Lowe. Jr. (Jim) and his younger brother Henry Lowe. Tom graduated from Lanier High School in 1963. He then attended Mercer University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and met the love of his life Maribeth. After graduating from Mercer with a Bachelor’s degree in Science he and Maribeth married and moved to Augusta, Georgia where he attended the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Lowe completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and then served in the Navy as a Second Lieutenant and was stationed in Washington, D.C. where he served at the US Capitol as a physician to Congress. After leaving the Navy in 1976, they moved back to Macon where he joined the medical practice of Internal Medicine Associates. In his free time Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, skiing, tennis, traveling and making memories with his family and friends. Tom was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Macon Civic Club.

He was an amazing husband to his wife, Maribeth and a wonderful father to his two children. He did everything in his power to make sure that his family had everything and that they were safe and loved. He never missed a softball game, a baseball game, a Boy Scout event, a tennis match, or any of his daughter’s piano recitals or plays.

Dr. Tom Lowe was a great man and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Maribeth and their two children, MaryBrooke Wiggins (Rick) and Thomas Lowe (Keri). He is survived by his brother, Henry Lowe (Merrie) and their son, Edward Lowe (Olivia). He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Kathy Jones Lowe and her children, Sarah (Kurt), Tarver (Cindy), Chesley (Vivian), and Katherine (Lael).

Tom was preceded in death by parents James Tarver Lowe, Sr. and Ann Lowe and his brother Dr. James Tarver Lowe, Jr “Jim”. Private graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Chip Miller will officiate. Masks and social distancing must be observed to be in attendance of the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 682 Mulberry Street, Macon 31201 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210 or Georgia Industrial Children’s Home, 4690 Mumford Road, Macon 31210 or the donor’s favorite charity.
