Richard “Rick” Paul Herin, a loving father, grandfather, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Macon, Georgia on June 24, 2023. Born on May 13, 1945, Richard's life was characterized by hard work, dedication, and a passion for helping others. Rick was born in Macon, Georgia to Walter G. Herin, Sr. and Mildred Frances Tidwell Herin. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and earned his associate degree at Georgia Military College. Throughout his life, he remained connected to his roots and was proud to call Macon his home. The strong sense of community he experienced growing up in Macon would shape his values and commitment to giving back throughout his life. Rick's work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the co-owner of Macon Transfer Company, where he dedicated many years of his life to ensuring the success of the business and the well-being of its employees. Richard's leadership and the positive impact he made on the lives of those he worked with will be remembered fondly by his colleagues and friends.

After retiring, Rick loved repairing lawnmowers and appliances. He enjoyed reminiscing about the days of riding his motorcycle. Rick loved his M&Ms and especially loved sharing those with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever he saw them. Family was at the heart of everything Rick did, and he was proud of the family he built with his children, Paul Herin (Amanda) of Forsyth, Georgia, Michele Barber (Frank) of Jones County, Georgia, Kimberly Edwards (Doug) of Panama City Lynn Haven, Florida, and Jay Clifford Herin (Miki) of Sasebo, Japan. Richard Rick was also a doting grandfather to his 12 grandchildren, Ben Herin (Thao), Daniel Herin (Bethany), Cristi Wainwright (Stephen), Ashley Davis, Richard DiPaolo (Amanda), Jacob DiPaolo, Scarlet Dean (Jacob), Levi Barber (Lauren), Zack Edwards, Aaron Edwards, Drew Herin, and Emma Herin; and 12 great grandchildren, who will no doubt carry on his legacy and love for family.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Walter G. Herin, Sr. and Mildred Frances Tidwell Herin. Rick's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family, his community, and his friends. He will be remembered as a kind and caring individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we celebrate the life of Richard Paul Herin, we are reminded of the impact that one person can have on the lives of many. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
