Dennis Kilgore

Dennis Edward Kilgore, 73, died June 27, 2018, in Tucson. He was born November 13, 1944, in Macon, Georgia, to Sara Louise & Frank Kilgore. He served in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He came to Ajo in 1965 from Macon, Georgia, and lived here for 26 years, leaving in 1986. He married Olivia Olea on January 15, 1966, in Ajo. They were married for nearly 40 years before her death on September 10, 2005. Their family remembers her as being the love of his life. In Ajo, Mr. Kilgore worked for Phelps Dodge. He retired as a locomotive mechanic from Asarco in San Manuel in 2005. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion, and VFW. “Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a master storyteller,” said is family. “He enjoyed people and loved to hear their stories. He loved his family, especially his four grandchildren, Dennis had a heart of gold and would help anybody to needed it.” He was preceded in death by his wife, Olivia O. Kilgore. Private graveside services, with military honors, were held on Monday, July 9, at Holy Hope Cemetery.
