Dianne Fuqua (Gaddy)

March 1, 2014
Hello, this is Colonel J. Gaddy, husband of Dianne Fuqua Gaddy, Miller H.S. Class of 1963.

My beloved wife Dianne passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2014, at Hospice in Brunswick. She is now in Heaven, where she will remain for eternity in The Kingdom of God - that I can guarantee you.
No more pain, as well as, "It Is Well With My Soul" - the song we will sing at her funeral, at her request.
I will miss her and never forget her - the fun times we had were many, never to be forgotten.  As all of you know, she was a unique human being with so many wonderful qualities.
I'm fine... because she's fine.
Thank you immensely for all your prayers and help you all gave Dianne & I over the past few months.  I'm forever grateful for them.
Love,
Colonel

Dianne Gaddy
Dianne Fuqua Gaddy, 68, of St. Simons Island, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2014, at Hospice of Golden Isles, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 30, 1945, in Macon to Mary Alizabeth Yeomans & William Wilson Fuqua, she is survived by her husband of 12 years, Colonel Jack Gaddy, Jr.; her sister Alisa Henry of Sharpsburg, Georgia; niece Emily Henry, currently attending the University of West Georgia; nephew Tyler Henry, currently attending the University of Georgia; and several cousins.

Dianne's professional career included public relations and information systems with Delta Airlines, volunteer EMT with Fayette County Fire Dept., and then, after earning a nursing degree from Clayton State University, approximately 20 years in nursing, including Atlanta's Crawford Long Hospital, Southwest Christian Hospice, and finally SE Georgia Health System in Brunswick, before retiring in 2000.

The world of art dominated her later years on St. Simons Island, as she was an accomplished pastels and oils artist who showed her work numerous times in the area.

Dianne was funny and witty and a joy to be around, but most of all she was a caring person with a very giving heart.  She will be missed immensely by her husband & family, and all her friends, whom she cherished and whom cherished her.

There will be a memorial service for her at 2pm on Saturday, March xx, 2014 at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Brunswick, 900 Gloucester St., conducted by Rev. Alan Akridge, whose spiritual guidance has been so valuable to the family during Dianne's illness.  The theme of this service in Disnne's honor will be the title of her favorite religious hymn, "It Is Well With My Soul".

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of The Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA, most easily via their website, Hospice.me .  They are a wonderful organization, and we are forever indebted to Dr. John Shaner and the caring, compassionate Hospice staff there.

"IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL"
Main subject: Peace, Scripture: Psalm 146

...LISTEN to this amazing by singer Wintley Phipps:
=> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8HffdyLd0c

"When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, with my soul.

Refrain:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my Soul."

Psalm 146:
1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. 3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. 4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. 5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, 6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-- the LORD, who remains faithful forever. 7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, 8 the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. 9 The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. 10 The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

Dianne Fuqua (Gaddy)

This is Colonel Gaddy, Dianne's husband - on the way to St.Marks weekly Healing Service this morning, my Sirius Sinatra channel played Peggy Lee singing Johnny Mercer's "The Days of Wine & Roses".   It blew me away - what a blessing - that song, and esp. Peggy's version has Dianne written all over it - I just posted this to her FB page:

This one's for YOU, BABY!! What a Beautiful Song and marvelous version by Peggy Lee. “…Just a passing breeze, filled with Memories – and the Golden Smile that Introduced me to. . . the Days & Wine & Roses, AND YOU.” This is so perfect – a perfect tribute to My Dianne.
I’ve never had a song affect me like this one. I Love You, Baby.

"The Days Of Wine & Roses" (Tribute to Dianne) – so simple, so perfect.  Thank you, Johnny Mercer (the only and only)

LYRICS:
The days of wine and roses laugh and run away like a child at play
Through a meadow land toward a closing door
A door marked "nevermore" that wasn't there before.

The lonely night discloses just a passing breeze filled with memories
Of the Golden Smile that introduced me to
The days of wine and roses and You.
